Jérome Blanc

The synthesis of my surrounding world helps me to find inspiration. Unusual nature, ways of life and urban structures make my imagination vibrate along with my personal sensitivity which will all be translated into creations made of wood.  I like purified forms, colour contrasts, textures and the mixing of different materials. The play on light of acryl or the shininess of metal adds contrast to my pieces.

My current work also follows the instinct of the moment and different shades of the wood. My work is based on a constant dialogue with matter, my creations allying aesthetics with technical difficulty, inscribing themselves within a movement and a design that are stripped and elegant.

Biography

Born in Geneva on the 5th of July 1978

- 1er Prix Pop Purchase Award, AAW, Albuquerque, USA 2009
- Participate in «International wood turning exchange» in Philadelphia, USA 2009
- First prize in the European competition, Bréville, France 2006
- Training course in turning in France with Mr. Marc Ricourt 2004

- Founding of my own cabinet making, carpenter and turning enterprise 2001
- Training course in turning in Tasmania with José and Tricia Lehete 2000
- Training as a carpenter at the school of “Arts et Métiers” of Geneva 1998 – 1999
